Swanson is located 20 kilometres to the west of Auckland City, with Waitakere around 25 kilometres and with a back drop of the Waitakere Ranges.
Swanson is a residential area with a strong sense of local community. Family homes dominate the area, with some commanding beautiful views of the Waitakere Ranges and nearby native bush. Swanson is home to Swanson Village, a shopping centre with a pharmacy, a doctor's office and very popular local café.
Waitakere City and surrounding area contains a lot of lifestyle properties, again taking advantage of the picturesque views. The Waitakere Ranges provide popular walking tracks for residents and there are are also the nearby black-sand beaches of Piha, Karekare and Bethells Beach. It is only a short drive to Henderson or Westgate for a great range of shops, supermarkets and dining options.
The Waitakere Ranges Regional Park is a place where pristine bush, thriving native wildlife and rugged black sand surf beaches come together. The ‘wild west’ feels like another world away, but is only a 40-minute drive from the city centre.
