Kumeu & Riverhead are small towns 25 km - 27 km north-west of the Auckland City centre. Riverhead is located on the Waitemata Harbour. Both areas are semi-rural with many residents commuting into nearby Auckland or North Shore City for work.

Kumeu is Auckland’s heritage Wine Region, the area boasts award-winning restaurants, fascinating galleries and diverse speciality shops. Kumeu is a sought-after suburb with many affluent family homes throughout the area, including modern lifestyle properties becoming more popular just outside the town centre. There are a number of amenities, including specialty shops, takeaways, restaurants, cafés, a medical centre and a number of other businesses. The area surrounding Kumeu is known for its lovely walks and tracks, while the nearby golf course is popular with the adults and the Adventure Park is popular with the kids.

Riverhead contains a range of local shops, including the Riverhead Citizens’ Hall, the Riverhead Tavern and Hotel and the Kauri Gum Store and Café, which is very popular with local residents. Riverhead has The Huapai Golf Club which is open to members and guests. Riverhead features it's iconic pub (The Riverhead) which many travel to via the ferry from central Auckland.
