Massey is a northern suburb of Waitakere and is made up of three main districts: Massey West, Massey East and Massey North. It is located about 17 kilometres from central Auckland and about 12 kilometres from central Waitakere. Parts of Massey East are also known as Royal Heights.

Massey is a highly developed community suburb with a newly constructed leisure centre, public library, multiple shopping complexes, including the Westgate shopping centre and the Royal Heights shopping centre, and plenty of local parks. Local rugby is prominent with the Massey Rugby Club. Part of Massey is on the waterfront, making it great for swimming and other water sports.
