Glen Eden is a suburb of Waitakere and is located about two kilometres from central Waitakere, about 17 kilometres from central Auckland.
The Waitakere area was originally inhabited by Māori natives before it was settled by Europeans around the mid 1800s. The development of the railway in the late 1880s to early 1890s led to Glen Eden becoming settled. The homes in the area are reminiscent of wooden farmhouses, 1930s art deco and post-war bungalows. Glen Eden continues to grow today, with development around the Mall shopping area and train station. The area has access too schools, shopping and eating options and transport to the city is frequent via train or bus.
On the edge of the Waitakere Ranges, there are plenty of leisure options as well as the attractions in and around the West Coast Beaches.
