Rothesay Bay is a small suburb in North Shore City's East Coast Bays region. The suburb is roughly the same size as Murrays Bay, the suburb to the immediate south.
The name is taken from the small inlet into the Hauraki Gulf, which can be accessed via Rothesay Bay Road. There is a rectangular piece of parkland adjoining the beach, alongside which is the Rothesay Bay Creek. To the north is situated Browns Bay, while to the south is Murray’s Bay.
Many residents commute into North Shore City or central Auckland for work, while enjoying a relaxed lifestyle outside the bustle of the city centre in their spare time. Rothesay Bay is home to a small number of shops, including a dairy, a superette, a pharmacy and a wine store. Other amenities are easily accessed through nearby Browns Bay or other neighbouring suburbs. Swimming, boating, fishing and other water sports are popular in Rothesay Bay because of its location on the coast.
