About Milford

Milford is a highly sought after suburb of Auckland, New Zealand's largest city. It is located on Auckland's North Shore on the northern side of Lake Pupuke. It also has a popular swimming beach, which runs some two kilometers from Black Rock in the south to Castor Bay in the north. The Wairau Creek empties into the Hauraki Gulf at the northern end of Milford Beach, and its lower tidal reaches host the Milford Marina.

Carmel College is a girls' secondary (years 7-13) school, it is a state integrated Catholic school, which was founded in 1957. Milford School is a coeducational contributing primary (years 1-6) school. It opened in 1926 as a spillover from Takapuna School, and became an independent school in 1946.

Westlake Boys High School and Westlake Girls High School are highly sought after state secondary schools (year 9 -13) with zones (that whilst not totally the same) roughly cover Milford, Forrest Hill, Castor Bay and Campbells Bay.

Milford is known for having a laidback atmosphere with unique village flair and is very popular due to its level contour. Milford contains a newly developed shopping mall, offering a range of up market clothing stores and specialty shops, a marina and a popular family park that has a volley ball court, a playground and picnic areas. North Shore Hospital is located on the edge of Milford. As a result a number of medical specialists, doctors and dentists can be found in the area.
