About Coatesville & surrounding area

Coatesville is an affluent, rural community situated approximately 30 kilometres (19 miles) north-west of Auckland, New Zealand. Albany lies to the east, Paremoremo to the south, Riverhead to the south-west, and Dairy Flat to the north.

The area was called Fernielea until 1926, when it was renamed after Gordon Coates, the prime minister at the time.

This charming little village is nestled among the picturesque countryside of Auckland. Known for its peaceful and friendly atmosphere, Coatesville is a hidden gem that offers a delightful escape from the hustle and bustle of city life.

Both Albany and North West/Westgate malls are on the doorstep, and one of its highlights is its vibrant community market. The monthly Coatesville market is very popular and brings people from across the region to gather, meet and sample local artisan products, produce and entertainment.

The village also hosts a dairy, a mechanical workshop, cafes, daycare options, Coatesville Primary, reserves and pony club, and offers wonderful options for dining, like the local favourite Fernielea Cafe.

Mincher is a garden of national significance in Coatesville. The area also has Riverhead Forest to explore, located on the outskirts of Coatesville, and providing opportunities for walking, biking, or simply immersing in the tranquil surroundings. It's a great place to escape into nature and enjoy some outdoor adventures.

In Coatesville and its surrounding areas, you'll find a welcoming community, beautiful surroundings, and a relaxed ambience that makes it a perfect spot for living or for a peaceful weekend getaway.
