About Sunnynook

The suburb is centered on the Sunnynook Shopping Centre and the nearby Sunnynook Park. Sunnynook also has a skateboard bowl located in Sunnynook Park, which is also home to the Glenfield Greyhounds rugby league club. There is also the new Sunnynook bus station.

Many residents commute into town for work on a daily basis. Sunnynook is near the east coast, which is popular for fishing, boating, swimming and other water sports, particularly in the summer months. Located closeby are Glenfield and Takapuna; both home to large indoor shopping centres. Sunnynook contains a range of parks and reserves, popular for outdoor family activities. Wairau Intermediate is an intermediate (years 7-8) school, opened in 1980. Sunnynook Primary School is a contributing primary (years 1-6) school, opened in 1968. Both schools are coeducational.
