About Browns Bay & Northcross

Browns Bay is an East Coast Bays suburb of North Shore City. It is located about 10 kilometres from central North Shore and about 21 kilometres from central Auckland. Adjoining suburbs include Rothesay Bay, Murrays Bay, Northcross (& Oteha) as well as Torbay Heights.

Browns Bay is a beach community, known for its shops and ready access to safe swimming beaches. It also contains large South African and British communities, with many South African churches and shops in the area. For some British expatriates the Speakers Corner British pub and the Bramptins British goods import shop provide a welcome reminder of their motherland. The suburb contains a small mall as well as a boardwalk running the full length of the beach. There is also a skateboard park, a play area and there are many dining opportunities along this area.

Since the first settlers arrived in Browns Bay, the beach has always been the place to be over summer. Whether you're taking the kids out for the day, or relaxing with friends, there is no better way to spend a hot summers day. With coffee shops alongside the beach, skate park for the teens, playground for the kids and the blissfully cool water to take care of that hot sun. The seaside community has the Hauraki Golf right on it's doorstep, providing unlimited boating and fishing opportunities for locals and visitors a like. The boat ramp is located at the northern end of the beach, just off Beach Road.
